A wackey era for sure.

One thing I'm grateful for...
For living during a time when you can criticize the President of the United States and Congress and not get punished. Why should I say such a thing... well here's a bit of history... In 1918, a year after World War I began, Woodrow Wilson approved and Congress passed the Sedition Act which prohibited citizens from speaking out against the federal government or its political leadership ... and if someone did speak out they would be thrown into jail.
Sounds harsh huh... well it does to me because in this great land we have the right to freedom of speech. But under this law and the Espionage Act (which gave the federal government the power to censor printed material, including mail) many people were prosecuted. The most famous case was Eugene V. Debs... where a former Socialist Party candidate for President in 1912 was sentenced to ten years in prison for opposing the government's decision to enter World War I. If Bush had enacted this bill today there would be a whole lot of people in jail because of their opposition to the War on Terror (Cindy Sheehan comes to mind).

Anyway, I bring up this factoid because with Obama's 100 days gracing the news left and right I wanted to share an article which is titled: 100 Days, 100 Mistakes from the NY Post... Quite the interesting read....

How was work today you ask??

Other than the big hole outside things are good. I thought when I left working at the Utah Republican Party, which is located on S. Temple, I wouldn't have to see orange cones and hear loud machines eating up the road anymore. It appears that I was wrong, those big eating machines followed me and our now positioned on 200 south. So, every so often the building shakes ... nope no earthquake just machines eating the road. What are they digging for??

Freedom of SPEECH gone for all CONSERVATIVES!

What happened to freedom of speech? Well, if you are a conservative you better check your opinion at the door and remember to be "politically correct" (whatever that means). So, no talking bad about the president, gay marriage, socialism, celebrities in general, mucho spending, closing Guantanamo Bay, the high flying carbon tax, all areas being opened to stem cell research, opening up to Cuba and that list goes on and on, and that's all in Mr. Obama's first 100 days.

So let's take a closer look at how the conservative voice is shot down and the liberal voice is upheld in our crazy society...

First up, CNN reporter vs. Tea Party Player ... and let me tell you this is media at it's finest.
Watch as the CNN reporter attacks a man at a tea party when he says that he is angry with how the President is spending our money ... In return the CNN reporter fights with the guy and then says that the rally is anti-government, anti-CNN and NOT FAMILY VIEWING.... please lady reporter you are totally biased and need to remember the rules of journalism and what history is all about. Maybe she is just bitter because CNN now ranks 5th when it comes to most viewed cable TV station.

Second example... Ms. California stating that she believes marriage is between a man and a woman at this years Miss America Pageant. I know all the liberals must have been going crazy... But she has an opinion just like the next person... just like how Perez Hilton does who happens to be an openly gay man, who asked the question about same-sex marriage. Why is that when she delivers an answer that the media/liberals say is politically incorrect she is booed? She is a conservative young woman who can share her opinion without having to sensor it.

Twins...Seperated at Birth. It's possible maybe.

Some people say that my mom looks like Deidre Hall from "Days of Our Lives." So, just for fun I posted their pictures. After looking at their pictures side by side ... I would say that indeed my mom does resemble her... minus the botax! My mom looks great just the way she is!

And just to make it even more fun some say she looks like Sarah Palin... I can see that when my mom is wearing her glasses... but my vote is still w/ Deidre.

What happened to impressing foreign leaders??

On Monday, April 6, 2009 I was reading through the editorials in the Salt Lake Tribune when I came across one that read "Obama's mistakes." I naturally thought it would be something about GM/Chrysler/AIG etc.. but no it was about how Obama and how his administration have failed time and time again at impressing leaders from other countries and even going as far as insulting them. So I dug a little deeper and all that is in the editorial from the trib is true even the Associated Press have written some stories about these blunders.

Read it all for yourself, First up... The Salt Lake Tribune Public Forum letter...

Obama's mistakes

First, President Barack Obama's people mix up speeches for him and Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen. Then Obama gives British Prime Minister Gordon Brown videos that are unplayable in Britain, doesn't offer Brown the traditional joint White House press conference and crassly returns the bust of Winston Churchill in the Oval Office that was loaned after 9/11 as a token of the bond between the two nations.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gives Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov a red button with a misspelled Russian word meaning "overcharge" instead of "reset." Now President Obama sends a letter to French President Jacques Chirac stating that he is looking forward to working with him. Problem is, Chirac hasn't been president for two years, and current French President Nicolas Sarkozy is miffed.
I thought these people were the smartest in the world, and that their supposed aim was to regain respect from foreign leaders. So far, they've been a laughingstock.
And George W. Bush was supposed to be a dumb frat boy with no nuance and Sarah Palin was the hick who didn't know foreign policy or protocol!
